Aus Idol Final
Nov. 27th, 2006 01:55 pmYay, quick note... Damien won.. the idol that I've liked from the start. I think I was initally swayed by his irish accent.. seriously I'm a sucker for Scottish and irish accents. but once he sang you are so beautiful in the SF (Semifinal 1) I was hooked.. tic tac teeth and all.
As for the song.. personally I think it sucks, I'm certainly not going to buy it, Damien did a wonderful job on the song itself but even with his vocals it may be sounded pitch perfect, it still doesn't change the fact that it's melodically (and lyrically) a joke, and it's a waste of Damien's talent.
Anyway good for you Damien, Jess, you were brilliant too, and if you'd had won instead I wouldn't have been dissapointed either. She had a darling of a voice (although admittedly very stock diva voice). At least this way she's got a foot in the door and she should go back and finnish her year 11 and 12 (as she once said she wanted to), amture alittle ore, have some real life experience and come back swinging.
Seen the preview of Damien's video clip on A Current Affair (and yep.. you've got a story right there with the older couple met and married within the two houses 88 years ago!).. nothing special.. stock Idol clip, simple effective.. him with a giutar again...
I can't wait to see how his first album turns out but I'll really be waiting for his 2nd or 3rd album where he will have full control of what and how he sings what he sings.
