Yay Fingey goodness! Did some bar work with the event and some Front house stuff and whaddya know you get to sit in on a few shows!

First off I got to see Cal Wilson which I must admit, she was way better than I'd expected her to be. This NZ chick has talent! lol, I guess that why she's a constant on thank god your hear (which btw her skit about the beauty queen is still either the top 2 skits I've seen up there with Matty Newton's car crash into the 5th floor of an apartment scene!). Back to the Fringe... Basically she talked about her journey into choosing a Footy team. Now I was disapointed that it was the Bombers, but still it was funny as! The misconceptions and the mocking of all the AFL teams was briliant! It was good if you like Footy, but I reckon even better if you know absolutely nothing about AFL!

Ohh next in the firing line is Dave Callan and his Flame retardant Monkeys. It was pretty good, a sold out gig, had some funny antedotes, and funny pictures but all in, didn't meet my expectations.

And Finally Tripod's How to Train an Attack dog from Scratch. Now this one wasn't free for me, I'd actually forked out to get tix for this show. A full house with at least 150 maybe 200 people at the show. This is one show I haven't seen before. Very different from all thier other shows. This was a mix between thier song after song routines (Tripod are Tripod and Tripod are Self saucing) and thier story-line/panto driven shows (Tosswinkle and Lady Robots). This basically was them going through thier version of the history of music comedy (or what they prefered to call it.. momedy:P). It was a refreshing new direction and really enjoyed it, although there were a few songs that I think weren't up to thier usual standard. All in all enjoyable night. The lads again stayed for signing and photo taking of all thier fans and scarily even after not seeing them for 2 years, scod still reconized me... hmm I wasn't that stalkerish was I... lol Maybe it's the fact that I've seen them 10 time in the last 4 years. Now I would post photos but since it's thier first full performace of this show I don't want to ruin any gags! But Just look out for 80's Gatesy, Yon and his pictogram of Will and Thelma, Yon and his trumpet (Yay!), and Scod's feminine role (minues the plaits)

Anyway... 1 more week of the fringe to go... There's the Word festival happening, and I can't wait to go/help out (yay free entry again!). Really looking forward to Sean Williams who for those who don't know write a ton of Sci-Fi novels, is always invited to Sci-Fi conventions, (I think he's been on a couple of stargate ones around Australia), and write a little tip of the hat in one chapter of his Star wars Force Heretic books (the 2nd one i think) to Scod Yon and Gatesy aka Tripod!

wow.. I really wrote too much.. Okay Now I'm going to be lazy and watch the Hornblower DVD I borred of the library... yay Ioan Gruffudd and Jamie Bamber
